Read Across America is this week

To the editor:

On Sunday, March 2, we celebrated the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, the illustrator and author we all know as Dr. Seuss. This year marks the 17th annual Read Across America celebration with Seussical events being held all week. Across America, National Education Association members, librarians, teachers and families are gathering together to show their own love of reading by sharing their favorite Dr. Seuss books with readers both young and old.

The Read Across America celebration occurs only once a year. However, you can continue to celebrate reading all year long by coming to the Saranac Lake Free Library. There you’ll find thousands of books that are just right for introducing the next generation of readers in your family. And if you’re not sure what might be the best book for your new or reluctant reader, just ask, we’ll be happy to help you find just the kind of book that you and your new reader is looking for.

And don’t forget to grab your hat and come hear your favorite Dr. Seuss book read aloud on Thursday, March 6, at 10:30 a.m. in the Elinor B. Preis Children’s Room of the Saranac Lake Free Library.

See you @ the library,

Pete Benson
