Hospital lifts visitor restrictions at birthing center
SARANAC LAKE – Adirondack Health has lifted restrictions it issued in January to visitors to the Stafford New Life Center at Adirondack Medical Center.
An increase in local cases of influenza and flu-like illnesses prompted hospital officials to limit admission to the birthing center to only the father or significant other and grandparents of the newborn.
“Siblings and other family and friends may visit mothers and newborns in the department,” the hospital announced Friday in a prepared statement. “Adirondack Health is grateful for the patience and understanding of the individuals and family members who were affected by the precautions.”
There are no other visitor restrictions at AMC-Saranac Lake; however, anyone with a cough may be asked to wear a mask in certain areas of the hospital or in a doctor’s office.
