State police reopen station
WELLS (AP) – The New York State Police has a new presence in the southern Adirondacks.
The substation at Wells in southern Hamilton County has reopened after a 20-year absence.
Troopers assigned to the Wells substation will patrol the towns of Wells, Lake Pleasant, Hope, Benson, Arietta and Morehouse, as well as the village of Speculator.
The two troopers who began their new assignment in Wells today will conduct both road and snowmobile patrols. Both were stationed before at the Mayfield barracks, 22 miles away.
