Lake Placid High School announces 2014 valedictorian, salutatorian
LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid High School recently announced the Class of 2014 valedictorian, Erin Weaver, and the salutatorian, David Knapik.
Erin Weaver, daughter of Tim and Kate Weaver of Lake Placid, has been named valedictorian of the Class of 2014.
Erin, a member of the National Honor Society and high honor roll has pursued Advanced Placement courses and excelled in all subject areas.
She will graduate with an Advanced Regents with honors diploma and special recognition of Mastery in Math and Science, the school’s highest diploma. A well-rounded model student, Erin gives back to the school by being an active member of Key Club, Newspaper Club (editor), and Class of 2014 president. Within her community, Weaver is an avid volunteer, having devoted more than 130 hours of community service.
Erin is also a talented vocalist, participating in the selective Women’s Ensemble, All-County Chorus, Area All-State Chorus and many musical theater productions.
Erin is planning on studying political science and has been accepted to Georgetown University, Boston College and Fordham University.
David Knapik, son of Jozef Knapik and Anna Gemzova of Lake Placid, has been named salutatorian of the Class of 2014.
A member of the National Honor Society and high honor roll, David excelled in math and science courses. David will graduate with an Advanced Regents with Honors diploma and special recognition of Mastery in Math and Science, LPHS’s highest diploma.
Knapik is a distinguished musician, and plays a variety of instruments from the saxophone to the piano.
He puts in many hours practicing daily for multiple concerts and benefits, and also volunteers his time to accompany the elementary chorus on the piano.
David plans on attending McGill University in Montreal, Canada, to study physics.
