Farmer recognized with state award

SARANAC LAKE – Saranac Lake Central School Director of Athletics Mark Farmer has received the New York State Athletics Administrators Association Apple Appreciation Award for Section VII.

Farmer was honored Friday, March 14 at the AAA Conference in Saratoga Springs.

Individuals are selected for the award based on their service to the schools and communities in the areas of physical education or athletics, as well as contributions to the success of the association, specifically at the grassroots level within respective leagues and chapters.

The award seeks to recognize loyal members who continuously volunteer and dedicate their time to make the association, which is the central cornerstone to professional development of athletic administration in New York, better and more productive.

Farmer was recognized as the Athletic Director of the Year from Section VII in 2012. He has been involved in athletics at Saranac Lake for 28 years serving both as a coach and most recently as the school’s director of athletics.
