Film festival opens Adirondack paddling season

LAKE PLACID – The Northern Forest Canoe Trail and Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters are co-hosting Rapid Media’s Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour 2014 on Friday at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.

The film festival showcases the best paddling films from around the world.

Proceeds from this event support the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. This showing is one of four screenings of the film festival that the nonprofit is hosting throughout New York and New England this spring.

The Reel Paddling Film Festival is in its ninth year and features award winning films in 10 categories. The festival inspires people to explore rivers, lakes, and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle, and appreciate the heritage of wild places. Films will be selected from entrants to the 2014 Reel Paddling Film Festival.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and screenings begin at 7 p.m. A raffle of paddle-related products will be held during the event.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.northernforestcanoetrail.org, at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts (518-523-2512), at Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters on Lake Flower Avenue in Saranac Lake (518-891-7450, 800-491-0414), or at the door.
