Glad to see Saranac Lake board re-elected
To the editor:
The North Country Healthy Heart Network would like to congratulate the Saranac Lake village board on their recent reappointments. Saranac Lake is very fortunate to have an engaged, forward-thinking board. We are happy to see the hard work of Mayor Rabideau and trustees Pelletieri and Catillaz recognized and validated through their recent re-election, and pleased to see trustees Van Cott and Rice retake their oaths of office.
As a public health organization serving the North Country, we have been particularly pleased with the proactive approach the village board has taken toward the community’s well-being over the past six years – specifically the establishment of a Healthy Infrastructure Advisory Board in 2009, passage of the tobacco ordinance in places where children recreate in 2010, passage of an updated comprehensive plan in 2012, adoption of a Bicycle and Pedestrian Trails Master Plan in 2013 and the creation of the Saranac Lake 6er program in 2013. These are significant steps toward making Saranac Lake a physically and economically healthier community.
We would like to thank the past boards for their hard work in representing the residents of the village of Saranac Lake and look forward to new initiatives to support healthy living from the current board.
