Whammys sweep to bowling league victories

SARANAC LAKE – The 2013-14 Monday Night Men’s League at Romano’s Saranac Lanes has completed its season.

For the first time since the lanes were refurbished and reopened by Jeff and Kathy Romano, a single team won both halves of the split season. The Whammys, consisting of Matt Fletcher, Jeff Dickson, Josh Dickson, Marc Bombard and team captain Eric Wamsganz, won the first half by a comfortable margin, but had to overcome a deficit on the last night of bowling to also win the second half.

Evergreen Auto Center held a five-point lead entering the last night of head-to-head competition, and then had to settle for a runner-up finish. In the battle for the top spot, Whammys won the first two games and barely held on to the lead they had built up to win the overall total despite losing the third game.

Whammys won 19 points out of 30 to secure first place in the second-half standings by a slim three-point margin. The following are the overall season standings:
