Get those vacation photos in

Welcome back from spring break. Many Enterprise readers took vacations during the annual week or two off from school, and we hope all of you remembered to take your Enterprise with you and get a photo of you or your family members or friends posing with it. Now, before you forget, submit one to our annual Vacation Photo Contest.

The same goes for those of you who took vacations at other times in the past year. We already have some pictures submitted, and we hope to get yours, too.

The Enterprise Vacation Photo Contest is an annual Tri-Lakes tradition for more than 20 years. We’re used to accommodating tourists up here, so it’s fun to see local people as tourists – posing, as always, with a copy of the Enterprise. In May and June we’ll print as many photos as possible in the paper. It’ll be a welcome dose of sunshine in mud and black fly season.

As always, we will give away prizes for the top three entries, as judged by our staff, based on originality, locale and photo quality. Those winning pictures will be the first ones we publish.

The deadline for us to receive photo entries will be Sunday, May 11 – Mother’s Day.

Include your name, phone number and a caption – a brief description of who and what are in the photo, including the location and the name and hometown of any person pictured.

We ask that each household submit no more than one photo.

If your photos are digital, email them to our sports and features editor, Morgan Ryan, at Keep in mind that we can’t print low-resolution photos, so please don’t compress them. Before you start shooting, it’s a good idea to make sure your camera is set to take large photos – maybe not the largest possible, but fairly big.

If you only have your photo in a hard copy, either drop it off at our office (54 Broadway, Saranac Lake) or mail it to Vacation Photo Contest, Adirondack Daily Enterprise, P.O. Box 318, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.

If you want your hard copy returned, include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your entry, and we will mail it back to you when we’re done.

We’ll publish the photos in print only, not online. That’s one more reason to renew your subscription or, if you live far away, to get a relative or friend to buy the papers for you.

We and your fellow readers are aching with curiosity to see where you went.
