Fischer fires career-best 34

RAY BROOK – Senior Dustin Fischer equaled his career-best round on his home course, firing a 34 to lead Saranac Lake to a 6-0 victory over Northeastern Clinton Wednesday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf action.

Fischer birdied the first and third holes at the Saranac Lake Golf Club and had pars on the rest to claim an 11-shot victory over Chris Kokes in the matchup between each team’s top player.

“It was nice to see a smile on his face,” said Saranac Lake coach Chris Stevens, whose Red Storm improved to 4-0.

Ethan Sawyer followed with a solid 38 to win the No. 2 match against Jordan Lamere, whose 42 was the best round of the day for the Cougars.

Also for Saranac Lake, Carley Sawyer defeated Curtis Bosley 43-54 in the third pairing, Danny Strack also carded a 38 to top Matt Snide in the fourth match, Kyler Darrah topped Anthony Barcomd 53-59 in the fifth match, and Tanner Coucelle fired a 42 to beat Cole Pinsonneault in the sixth match.

Lake Placid 6, Plattsburgh 0

PLATTSBURGH – Lake Placid’s golfers remained among the three unbeaten teams in the CVAC, improving to 3-0 Wednesday with a 6-0 road win over Plattsburgh at the Bluff Point Golf Club.

Competing in the No. 4 match, Miles Lussi had the low round of the day, shooting a 40 to top Matt Evans.

At No. 1, Bjorn Kroes topped Matt Suarplaitis 42-47, Kiefer Casler fired a 45 for a three-shot win over Jake Messner in the second pairing, Ryan Kane carded a 42 for a No. 3 match win over Walker Gasrich, Pat Kane shot a 43 to top Mike Stetz in the fifth match, and Lucas Strack recorded a 44 for a two-stroke victory over JD Side in the sixth pairing.

The Blue Bombers next host Northeastern Clinton on Friday.
