Samantha J. Pickering

TUPPER LAKE – Samantha J. Pickering, 26, of Tupper Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 23, 2014.

Born on October 31, 1987, in Saranac Lake, she was the daughter of Patricia Gonyea and Ricky Pickering. Samantha graduated from Tupper Lake High School in the Class of 2005 and from SUNY Potsdam in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. While in college, Samantha was an outstanding volleyball player and won many awards. She also participated in track and field. Sam was attending CNA classes and had planned on working at Mercy Living Center.

She is survived by her mother, Patricia Imlach and husband Alan of Tupper Lake; her father, Ricky Pickering of Tupper Lake; grandparents Wayne and Lois Mayotte, Leroy and Trudy Pickering, and Sally Morin, all of Tupper Lake, and Jimmy and Edith Imlach of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts; brothers Ricky Pickering and A.J. Imlach; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Samantha was predeceased by her cousin Jessica Lea Depontes on April 15, 2014.

Calling hours are scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 28 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
