Fire department benefit was a blast
To the editor:
What a party! Words alone can not express the love of community we felt on May 24 at the Waterhole for the benefit concert for the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department in honor of our father and husband, Preston Burl.
There was a tremendous turnout, and the entertainment was unbelievable. We would like to thank Elizabeth Whipps for coming up with the idea – what a wonderful thing you have done, and we can only imagine the hard work taking this from an idea to the reality of what it turned out to be – Chris Knight and Peter Crowley for starting this whirlwind so many months ago with a simple phone call that has taken on a life of its own; Brenda Stringer for providing the venue; the people and companies that donated food, gifts and raffle items; Ramback’s Bakery for the beautiful cake; all those who I am sure put in countless hours to pull this off; Chief Brendan Keough, fireman Jim Stinson and the all the members for the wonderful slide show, the fire truck ride, the love and appreciation you showed to all of us. You should all be proud of yourselves as we surely are! We also want to thank Ruth King and Vala Bennett for making the trip, for the awesome entertainment and for the love they showered on all of us.
What a wonderful community we live in. Thank you all!
