Non-existent foreign policy
To the editor:
It has become apparent that this administration is willing to sell this nation outright to the lowest bidder. The latest example of this is the so-called negotiated release of Sgt. Bergdahl.
In the past, every administration has stated that to negotiate with terrorists is a definite sign of weakness and would lead to disasterous complications in the future for the military and the State Department. Well, this policy took a 180-degree turn with the release/exchange of Sgt. Bergdahl and the five Taliban Gitmo detainees.
So now this administration has bolstered the ranks of the enemy with key players and strategists of the Taliban to further the capture, slaughter and murder of our troops, people, ideals and society. The declared jihad of the Taliban is to destroy us by any means necessary, and this administration has taken steps to ensure that this war on ourselves can continue.
The stance taken by this administration has drastically changed the strategy to be taken by our enemies. Hostages will increase at an exponential rate, and enemies of this nation will be released to continue the conflagration.
Seemingly gone are the days when the military was called upon to rescue one of its own.
It is totally recognized by this volunteer military that there is an inherent danger when joining the ranks. There is a distinct possibility that one could be captured when on the field of battle. This is accepted by all who join the ranks of our protectors. When possible, the military will intervene to save their own, NOT the administration, especially this one, whose goal is to hand over the store to anyone or anything. This administration has no business whatsoever in delving into or negotiating any form of foreign policy. It is intent in trading away the strengths of our nation in order to bolster its own agenda and seemingly comply with the very jihad that has been waged against us.
I am glad that an American citizen has been returned to our soil alive and seemingly well, but the cost was way too high. His fellow soldiers have stated that Bergdahl is a deserter and a traitor. We have often been warned to be wary of the enemy within. It has become apparent that this logic has come to fruition. We are being attacked from within by our own federal government by our own leaders.
