Kinney Drugs’ EZSync synchronizes prescription refills pickup dates
In the United States, half of all prescriptions filled each year are taken incorrectly and, as a result of taking medication the wrong way, an estimated $105 billion is wasted annually on avoidable health care expenditures, according to the New England Healthcare Institute. The new Kinney Drugs EZSync program aims to help increase medication compliance rates for patients. EZSync is a tool used by Kinney pharmacists to synchronize all of a patient’s prescription refills in order to consolidate pharmacy purchases each month.
“Compliance is supported by convenience, and it’s easy for people to be noncompliant when their prescriptions are on different schedules and individual refills are scattered throughout the month,” said David Adsit, R.Ph., director of pharmacy services at Kinney Drugs stores. “With EZSync, our pharmacists can help their patients better manage their medications and take them as prescribed by their doctor.”
In the United States, patients who rely on medication synchronization programs at their community pharmacy are 30 percent more likely to take their medication as prescribed, according to the National Community Pharmacists Association.
EZSync is another pharmacy service offered by Kinney Drugs to promote healthier outcomes for their patients. This new service complements existing services like ReadyScripts automatic refills; EZRefill, the mobile, online and phone-in refill service; free prescription delivery; and immunizations for seasonal flu, meningitis and shingles.
