Many thanks

To the editor:

Now that the dust has settled and the phone has stopped ringing off the hook, it’s time to give thanks to all who made the recent Ruth King benefit concert a success – first and foremost, to Ms. King and band member Vala Rhea Bennett for jumping onboard from the first contact. Additionally, thanks to Mrs. Burl and the entire Burl family whose unique relationship with Ms. King made this celebration a night to remember. Thanks to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department and especially Chief Brendan Keough for their support and participation, and to all the first responders past and present who attended. Thanks to Brenda Stringer for opening the doors of the Waterhole Upstairs and hosting this event, and thanks to Kris and Ken Casler, and Clinton Green (The Grass Company) and the Jones Brothers for their performances.

Thanks to the local media, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, editor Peter Crowley and writer Chris Knight (whose wonderful article initially inspired me), and to Jack LaDuke of Mountain Lake PBS and the Plattsburgh Press-Republican for helping get the word out. Thanks to Upstate Vinyl Graphics and Compass Printing Plus for their fine promotional products.

Thanks to our local civic organizations for their support, the Kiwanis Club of Saranac Lake, the Saranac Lake Adult Center and especially Mike Pollard of the Loyal Order of Moose and Ray Boula of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 447 for their early donations toward Ms. King’s transportation.

Thanks to the individual donations of Jerry Cavallo, Mary Kathryn Thill and Mark S. Wilson, Patricia P. Brown and Robert E. Brown, Sherri Sprague Valenze, Paulette and Fred Miller, Tim Baker, Tammy Boyer, Gail and Wes McLaughlin, Sherril G. Macey and Gregory Parker, and Barbara LaMay Darring.

Thanks to the business community (both local and regional) for their support, Nori’s Village Market, Eat ‘n’ Meet Grill, Rambach’s Bakery and Fudge, South East Frozen Foods, Hyde Mobil, Cold River Coffee Co. Inc., Salon Mirage, Precision Cuts, Terri’s Clip Joint, Tail O’ The Pup, Lake View Deli, Romano’s Saranac Lanes, Howard Johnson’s Restaurant, The Belvedere Restaurant, Downhill Grill, The Community Store, Upstate Auto Service, Onsite Computer Service, Scott’s Florist, Carol Kepps Photography, Ampersound Music, Price Chopper Supermarkets, Hannaford Supermarkets, The Rusty Nail, Ray Brook Sunoco, Casier Furniture and Erin’s Isle Restaurant (Naples, Florida).

Finally, thanks to all who attended and shared a special evening. The circle remains unbroken in Saranac Lake.
