Community helped Tinman go well

To the editor:

To the volunteers and the community of Tupper Lake:

The Triathlon Committee and I would like to take this this opportunity to thank you for your time, efforts and support that you so graciously offered for the 2014 Tupper Lake Toughman Tinman Triathlon. We could not run this enormous event, spread out over 70 miles, without dedicated volunteers. We thank you for giving up part of your day to make the 32nd annual Tinman triathlon a success.

It is a great feeling to see the community of Tupper Lake, businesses and volunteers, come together to support this race. With your help, the race went off like clockwork and was run very smoothly. It was very satisfying to see so many triathletes having a great time as they trekked over the course from the Municipal Park to Cranberry Lake and back, and throughout the surrounding streets of the community. I heard many triathletes commenting on how great the volunteers were. They couldn’t say enough about this race and the caring volunteers. We had many triathletes come from several different parts of the country and from our northern neighbor – Canada – participating in this race because of the reputation that it has acquired over the 30-plus years. That said, the words Tupper Lake Triathlon are being spoken all around the USA, Canada and even Europe.

Major contributing sponsors and key supporting organizations that supported the race are the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce, Coca-Cola, Shaheen’s IGA, Stewart’s, Placid Planet Bicycles, Belleville Insurance, P-2’s Irish Pub, Nice ‘N’ Easy, High Peaks Cyclery, The Wild Center, town of Tupper Lake, village of Tupper Lake, Tri-Hard, Park Motel & Cabins, and Toughman.

To show our appreciation, we will be having a volunteer appreciation picnic to all triathlon volunteers on July 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the pavilion.

Many thanks,

Ted Merrihew
