300 turn out for figure skating competition

LAKE PLACID – A favorite Lake Placid Summer tradition, the Lake Placid Summer Figure Skating Championships kicked off last Thursday and ended Sunday at the Olympic Center.

Approximately 300 skaters competed in events ranging from beginner and no test to senior level of competition. The championships is popular with skaters from throughout the country and internationally who use the event as a barometer to determine how their skating program is received by the judges before the qualifying season begins in the fall.

As always, Skating Club of Lake Placid skaters participated in the competition in various events and levels. These skaters were Ciana Cerruti, Sandra and Alexa Harper and Carly Brox. Also competing on behalf of the club were Laurau Shadlock of Troy and Cierra Nelson of San Francisco, California.
