ORDA launches ‘Extreme Tubing’

LAKE PLACID – Tubing isn’t just for snow anymore, or for being pulled behind a motorboat. The state Olympic Regional Development Authority has launched “Extreme Tubing” this summer at the Olympic Jumping Complex.

Riders will slide down the landing hills of the 90-meter, 48-meter and 20-meter ski jumps on tubes, beginning today.

It costs $46 and includes two runs on 90-meter landing hill and one run down the 48-meter hill. Participants must be at least 8 years old to attempt the 48-meter hill and 13 years old to slide down the 90-meter hill.

The ride will be available from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
