Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on Feb. 1, 1928, she was the daughter of Luke and Hildegarde (Hedburg) Cronin.

Carroll moved to Saranac Lake from New York City with her mother at the age of 13, when her mother originally came to Saranac Lake to cure for tuberculosis. She was very active in the community serving as both a Girl Scout and Boy Scout troop leader, co-founded the Fresh Air program in Saranac Lake with Sheila Morgan, sang in various church choirs and volunteered at Adirondack Medical Center following her retirement. She loved to read, listen to music and putter around in her garden. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Vincent R. and his wife Karin of Saranac Lake; two daughters: Kathleen M. VanYserloo, and Beryl C. Mader and her husband David, all of Saranac Lake; seven grandchildren: Erik, Sarah, Carolyn, Anna, Jesse, Harmony and Jack; and four great-grandchildren.
