Great debut for Carnival Gala
To the editor:
On July 11, the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Summer Gala Committee launched its first-ever red-carpet gala fundraiser at the Harrietstown Town Hall, which brought together community members to enjoy an evening filled with excitement and revelry in support of our long-standing midwinter festival.
The evening kicked off with photos of guests arriving via red carpet, champagne and passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by a delicious dinner, open bar and dancing ’til the end. Throughout the night, guests had the opportunity to bid on some wonderful auction items donated by generous local businesses and individuals alike. The Bid & Bump Board offered seats at exclusive and unique events, and got the audience racing to outbid each other for the chance to attend. The food was extraordinary – huge thanks to Lakeview Catering for serving us in style.
All of this would not have happened without the support and assistance of many organizations and individuals. We especially thank Eric Foster and the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee, the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, the Harrietstown Town Board, Jenn Rush and John Wheeler, the Saranac Lake Free Library, the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Taylor Rental, Good Guy Productions and all of our fabulous volunteers for the evening: Tim Baker for his technical wizardry on the Bid & Bump Board, Dylan Duffy for his auctioneering skills, Peter Snyder for jumping on board last-minute with his photographic skills, Margaret Worden for her meticulous snowflake skills, Martha Watts for her stitchery skills and Robin Johnson for the beautiful ice carvings. Kudos to our amazing helpers for the evening, including Joanna Merry, Sadie Posdzich, Nina Scheuer, Autumn Buerkett, Annalea Sullivan, Jack Martin, Josh and Hannah Marlow, Dan and Kim Rivera, Ami Mott, Mary and Kevin Bartel, and to Milt Adams and Clyde Baker for their willing assistance throughout the evening and beyond.
And last but not least, a heartfelt thank-you to all of the businesses and individuals who generously donated auction items, and to those of you who happily attended the gala in support of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival!
