Hyde Fuel captures trophy

LAKE PLACID – Hyde Fuel of Saranac Lake topped Colby Construction of Lake Placid 13-6 Thursday night in the Saranac Lake Youth Baseball Association Minor League championship game.

“It was awesome,” said Hyde Fuel coach Daryl Roberts after the win. “We worked so hard all year since Memorial Day, and the kids all came together and played as a team, and it’s just awesome for Saranac Lake baseball.”

Hyde Fuel jumped out to an early lead, scoring seven runs in the first inning and one in the second for an 8-0 lead after two. It then added another five runs in the fourth inning for a 13-1 advantage.

“The whole team hit today, so I couldn’t just single out anybody. Everybody hit the ball today and it was total team effort,” Roberts said.

Lake Placid rallied in the fifth inning to score five runs but Hyde Fuel had already built up too much of a lead and led 13-6 after the inning.
