George A. Nugent

George A. Nugent, 74, of Lake Placid, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2014, in Orlando, Florida.

Born in Lake Placid to George and Emily Nugent, he moved to Texas after graduating from Lake Placid High School to attend the University of Texas for his BBA. He received full academic scholarship from the U.S. Navy and ROTC.

He was married to Pauline Andrews from 1966 to 1976. He eventually became a lieutenant in the Navy and was on the U.S.S. Fletcher DD-445 in Vietnam and other tours of duty.

He returned to the University of Texas to receive his master’s in business administration in 1968. He worked at the Pentagon as an aide to the secretary of the Navy for a short time. He then worked for General Electric Co. from 1968 to 1970 in contract negotiations for Navy nuclear propulsion systems.

He eventually changed locations and careers, and went into recruitment and placement with Fox Morris Association in Towson, Maryland, and McLean, Virginia, from 1973 to 1994.

From 1994 to 2004 he was with CPSI Inc. of Baltimore as a technical recruitment and placement consultant.

He lived in Timonium, Maryland, for many years until he retired and moved back to Austin, Texas, in 2005. In 2010 he moved to Orlando, Florida, to be near his only child and daughter, Kristen Nugent.

He was an extremely intelligent man and a very good loving father. He will be missed very much.

He is survived by his daughter Kristen, several nieces and one nephew, as well as many friends and people who cared about him.

He will be joined again with all his brothers and sister, mother and father in heaven once again.

He will be buried at St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid.
