Reggae Night with the Alchemystics
LAKE PLACID – The Alchemystics will play Reggae Night Tuesday, the fifth performance in the seven-week Songs at Mirror Lake Music Series.
The Pines Inn Songs at Mirror Lake Music Series presented by Adirondack “By Owner” is held at 7 p.m. on seven Tuesdays throughout the summer in the newly renovated Paul White Memorial Band Shell at Mid’s Park on Main Street, free of charge.
The Alchemystics blend reggae, politically infused hip-hop, gritty soul, hard-driving rock and pulsing Jamaican, Cuban and Trinidadian rhythms. Formed by producers Demse Zullo (drums/percussion) and Garrett Sawyer (bass) in early 2003, the band has grown into an eclectic lineup of musicians combining the vocals of Ras Jahn and Ian-I, the smooth and socially conscious lyricism of Force, the Afro-Caribbean-infused percussion of Matthew King and the keyboards of Jay Metcalf.
Based in western Massachusetts, the Alchemystics have shared stages with Stephen Marley, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Clipse, Damian Marley, The Abyssinians, Sister Carol, The Coup, Inner Circle, Busta Rhymes, Yellow Man, Burning Spear, Gil Scott Heron, Culture, Steel Pulse, Angelique Kidjo, Mighty Sparrow, The Brazilian Girls, Israel Vibrations, The English Beat, Midnite, King Sunny Ade and Taj Mahal, among others.
