Doheny to announce ‘major’ news Friday
WATERTOWN – Independence Party Congress candidate Matt Doheny will make what he called a “major” announcement on Friday.
There has been much speculation about the Watertown investor’s plans in the last month, since he lost the Republican Party primary to Elise Stefanik on June 24. Will he continue to campaign, try to remove his name from the Independence Party line, endorse Stefanik or some other candidate, or leave his name on the ballot and lay low? Doheny has yet to answer any of these questions.
Doheny has said he’ll make his announcement at 11 a.m. Friday in front of his campaign headquarters in Watertown.
Aaron Woolf, who lives in Elizabethtown and Manhattan, is the Democratic and Working Families Party candidate running to replace U.S. Rep. Bill Owens, a fellow Democrat. Matt Funiciello of Glens Falls is the Green Party candidate. Stefanik, who lives in Willsboro, has the Conservative Party line as well as the Republican.
