‘Shakespeare 4 Fun’ at Keene school Saturday
KEENE VALLEY – The Book & Blanket Youth Theatre is back with another summer performance of the classics: “Shakespeare 4 Fun” at 7 p.m. Saturday at Keene Central School.
For anyone who has trouble using Shakespeare and fun in the same sentence, producer Kathleen Recchia says this evening of entertainment is a good place to start.
“We’re bringing in this incredible Shakespeare Co. called Knighthorse to work with the students,” Recchia sais. “After one Skype session with Ty and Amy the students were eager to get their scenes and scripts and get right to work. This duo who makes up the Knighthorse Theatre Co. are dynamic and enthusiastic and know how to make Shakespeare come alive for all ages.”
The evening entertainment promises to be a mix of comedy and drama featuring some newly acquired stage combat skills. “These young actors are having a ball learning and performing some classic Shakespeare scenes and they’re eager to share their enthusiasm for the Bard with “all the world,” Recchia passionately reports.
Tyrus Lemerande and Amy McLaughlin are the creators of Knighthorse, the nonprofit, traveling theatre company dedicated to bringing vibrant, living art to all ages. They believe that, This cast includes 10 students ages 10 to 15: Ben Caito, Matthew Caito, Ceilidh Cheeseman, Linnae D’Auria, Anise Hetman, Jacob Hetman, Sierra McGivney, Harvey Runyon, Ana Serjak, and Sarah Woltner. Tyrus and Amy will be introducing the event and contributing some of their own Shakespeare favorites to the mix.
The performance is free but donations will be accepted to help defray costs.
