Police: PSU student died of natural causes

PLATTSBURGH – A SUNY Plattsburgh student who went missing in April, and whose body was later found behind a car dealership, died of natural causes.

Ray Brook-based state police, in a news release issued Wednesday, said 20-year-old Kodi K. Beckles of Poughkeepsie, died of cardio-respiratory arrest due to seizure disorder. That determination was made Friday by Dr. Michael Sikirica, who conducted an autopsy of Beckles at Albany Medical Center after an initial autopsy wasn’t able to determine his cause of death.

Clinton County Coroner David Donah ruled the manner of death to be natural.

Beckles’ body was found on the morning of April 7 by members of the Plattsburgh City Police Department Special Response Team. It was found in a wooded area behind Knight Automotive on state Route 3.

Beckles was last seen alive early in the morning of April 5 at an off-campus party. He was a junior at SUNY Plattsburgh at the time of his death.
