Cape Air relocates downtown office

SARANAC LAKE – Cape Air has moved its downtown ticket office and call center to a new location.

The Hyannis, Massachusetts-based airline is now leasing space at 5 Broadway, formerly the home of the women’s clothing store Pink and owned by local restauranteur Paolo Magro. Since late March, Cape Air had been renting the former jewelry and rock shop at 13 Broadway, owned by Li Qin Dong.

“The first location did not meet the needs of our operation,” Jacqueline Donohoo, Cape Air’s Northeast marketing manager, wrote in an email Wednesday. “The new location will be open as early as this week. We are very happy to have quickly found another location. We look forward to keeping our downtown presence.”

Donohoo said the office will be staffed by two part-time employees. They’ll serve people who walk in to ask about or buy airline tickets. They’ll also take calls from customers throughout the 518 area code.

Cape Air is the lone commercial passenger airline service that flies out of the Adirondack Regional Airport in Lake Clear. It provides daily service to and from Boston.

The airline has “city ticket offices” in several other Northeast communities where it flies, including Ogdensburg, Massena; Rockland and Augusta, Maine; and Rutland, Vermont.

Donohoo said the hours of operation for the Saranac Lake ticket office will remain the same. It’s open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
