Police and fire calls

KEENE – Wilmington-based state police charged Tina M. Smith, 48, of Keene, with second-degree criminal contempt at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at 45 Church St. in the town of Keene. Police said Smith disobeyed a court order. She was given an appearance ticket for town of Keene court.

SARANAC LAKE – The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a dryer fire at 122 Broadway, an apartment building, at 8:10 p.m. with one truck and 11 members. Firefighters said the contents of the dryer caught fire due to a malfunction. The blaze was extinguished and contained to the dryer. Firefighters were back in service at 9:13 p.m.

TUPPER LAKE – The Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to an alarm activation at the Sunmount RIT, 65 Monroe Ave., at 3:17 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters said a faulty air compressor caused the sprinkler system to trip the alarm. No action was taken.
